How Did I Start Buying Design Clothes? / Como Comecei A Comprar Roupas De Designer?

Como comecei a comprar roupas de designer? Essa é uma pergunta que  escuto com certa frequência de seguidores, amigos e até familiares. Então resolvi dividir aqui com vocês minhas dicas reais sobre esse assunto.

Dica 1: Pare de comprar
Pode soar cliché, mas a verdade é que diminui e muito meu ritmo de compras. Quando eu morava na Europa e tinha começado  blog e Instagram, eu estava num ritmo de compras meio intenso. Junta isso ao fato que de a maioria das redes de fast-fashion são Européias e das promoções tentadoras e eu estava sempre com um sacola na mão. Pouco antes de mudar para o Canadá eu tinha começado a mudar meus hábitos também. Desde 2017 que eu não faço mais tanta compra. Eu reflito bastante antes de comprar e também passei a priorizar lojas de roupas vintage. Todo esse movimento teve um impacto direto nas finanças o que faz sobrar algum dinheiro e permite uma compra mais ousada de algo que você realmente quer.

Dica 2: Compre em brechó e lojas de consignação 
Como citei acima, comprar em brechó é um trunfo. É mais sustentável, mais econômico e você acaba encontrando peças que nem imagina. Quase todas as tendências estão lá e com um pouco de sorte até roupas de designer. Eu já encontrei bolsas, camisas, entre outros. Também vale brechós online e lojas de consignação que estão cada vez mais alta. Nessas lojas costuma ter muito produto de luxo em ótima condição. 

Dia 3: Escolha suas batalhas
Comprar menos e melhor é o segredo. Mas, não vamos pensar que tudo vai ser de designer. É necessário escolher suas batalhas. Você realmente quer aquela camiseta de designer apenas por causa do logo, e a qualidade versus preço, vale à pena? Eu penso bem nas peças que quero investir e senão, recorro a marcas menores e locais, eventualmente ao fast-fashion e as lojas vintages. Eu tendo a priorizar acessórios de designer e quando invisto em roupas eu tento pensar em peças que vão ter longa vida e uma usabilidade grande e bem versátil. Comprar com propósito é a chave!

Dica 4: Se inscreva nas newsletter certas
Designers raramente fazem promoção, mas lojas que vendem os produtos de designer costumam fazer. Se desinscreva das newsletter tentadoras cheias de promoção e produtos de qualidade duvidosa e se inscreva na newsletter de lojas que vendem roupas de designer, de brechós online, vendas privadas e etc. Assim, você evita a tentação de comprar qualquer coisa e está sempre por dentro das promoções que interessam.

Dica 5: Encontre seu estilo
Essa dica pode parecer muito ampla, mas a verdade é que quando a gente conhece bem nosso estilo a gente erra menos nas compras. Ter boas peças de base e um estilo bem definido te ajudam a saber o que comprar, no que investir. Crie moodboards, faça uma limpa no armário, vende ou doe as peças que não usa mais. Sabendo seu estilo e tendo uma boa base, você está pronto para investir em peças de designer sabendo que vai tirar o máximo proveito delas e evitando o superconsumo. 

How did I start buying designer clothes? This is a question that I often hear from followers, friends and even family members. So, I decided to share here with you my real tips on this matter.

Tip 1: Stop shopping
It may sound cliché, but the truth is that my shopping pace slowed down a lot. When I lived in Europe and started blogging and Instagram, I was in a bit of an intense shopping rhythm. Add that to the fact that most fast-fashion chains are European and promotions are tempting and I always had a bag in my hand. Just before moving to Canada I had started to change my habits. Since 2017, I don’t shop that much anymore. I reflect a lot before buying and I also started to prioritize vintage clothing stores. This whole movement had a direct impact on finances, which leads saving money and allows a more daring purchase of something you really want.

Tip 2: Shop at thrift shops & consignments stores
As I mentioned above, buying at thrift stores is an asset. It’s more sustainable, more economical and you end up finding pieces that you can’t even imagine. Almost all the trends can be found in thrift shops and with a little luck even designer clothes. I already found designer bags, shirts, among others. Online thrift stores and consignment stores are also on the rise. In these stores you usually have a lot of luxury products in excellent condition and really good prices!

Day 3: Choose your battles
Buying less and better is the secret. But, let’s not think that everything is going to be designer. It is necessary to choose your battles. Do you really want that designer T-shirt just because of the logo, and is quality versus price worth it? I really think about of the pieces I want to invest and, if not, I resort to smaller and local brands, eventually to fast-fashion and of course vintage stores. I tend to prioritize designer accessories and when I invest in clothes I try to buy of pieces that will have a long life and a great and versatile usability. Purchasing with purpose is the key!

Tip 4: Subscribe to the right newsletters
Designers rarely do promotion, but resellers often do. Unsubscribe from the tempting newsletters full of promotions and dubious quality and subscribe to the newsletter of stores that sell designer clothes, online thrift stores, private sales, etc. This way, you avoid the temptation of buy too much and you’ll be always in the know of the sales!

Tip 5: Find your style
This tip may seem very broad, but the truth is that when we know our style well, we make less mistakes when shopping. Having good basic pieces and a well-defined style helps you to know what to buy, what to invest in. Create mood boards, clean out your closet, sell or donate the pieces you no longer use. Knowing your style and having a good base, you are then ready to invest in designer pieces knowing that you will get the most out of them and also avoiding overconsumption.
